Looking for a lab video production example? Well, Chaze Films partnered with SafeTiva Labs, an independent testing laboratory in Westfield, Massachusetts, to produce a Brand Message Video and Brand Anthem Video to help show their target demographic some of the complex scientific work in an easier-to-understand way while showcasing some of their actual team members behind the lab.
Our lab video production strategy combined interviews with SafeTiva’s scientists and staff with b-roll filmed throughout their laboratory.
We believe in helping build trust through transparency, especially for service providers, so being able to give their viewers a behind-the-scenes look at SafeTiva’s people, equipment, testing environment, and expertise while creating video content the company could use to introduce its brand to customers and prospects was a core part of what we were looking to accomplish with this video project.
Creating a Brand Message Video for SafeTiva Labs
When we work with businesses that are highly technical, helping to explain what they do isn’t always as easy as it seems.
Yes, the terminology and what they do everyday becomes like breathing air, but for those of us not in their industry, it becomes a little more challenging to understand so we often try to help breakdown their message so we can explain it in simpler terms that everyone can understand.
SafeTiva Labs needed to communicate the science and expertise behind its laboratory while still creating a personal connection with the people watching.
Rather than focusing only on equipment and laboratory processes, we wanted viewers to meet the scientists and staff behind the work, as well as highlight their differentiators from what separates what they do from other labs and scientists.
That’s where the Brand Message Video really helps.
The video introduces viewers to SafeTiva, explains what the company does, highlights its approach to laboratory testing, and gives its team an opportunity to explain why their work matters while letting their future potential leads know why they’d be the best fit for them.
For us, the strategy wasn’t simply about making the laboratory look good on camera. We wanted someone unfamiliar with SafeTiva to come away with a better understanding of the company, its expertise, and the people they would be working with.
A Video Strategy Built for Scientists and Laboratories
Video production for a laboratory or science-based company can be very different from producing a typical corporate or product video.
Scientific organizations often need to communicate complicated information to audiences who may not share the same technical background.
If the video becomes too technical, viewers can lose interest or struggle to understand the message. Simplify it too much, however, and you risk losing the expertise that makes the organization credible.
Our approach was to let SafeTiva’s team explain their work conversationally while using visuals from inside the laboratory to reinforce what they were discussing.
That combination of interviews and b-roll helped us show both sides of the company: the technical expertise behind SafeTiva’s work and the people responsible for it.
Filming Scientists Inside Their Labs

Filming inside laboratories isn’t new for our video production team, but every lab presents a different production environment so we always set up for what really highlights their brand.
For example, when deciding where each SafeTiva team member should be interviewed.
For scientists, when you visual where they are, you’d likely think of being in side a lab, right? So for us to help with the visual storytelling aspect, placing them in an environment connected to their work allowed the background to provide additional visual context before they even began explaining what they do.
For employees whose roles were outside of the science realm, we chose a completely different area of the facility that better represented them and their specific work.
These may seem like small production decisions, but interview environments influence how viewers perceive both the person speaking and the organization as a whole.
Instead of filming every employee against the same generic background, we were able to use SafeTiva’s actual workplace as part of the visual storytelling.
Making Technical Video Content Feel Human
One of our priorities during interviews is making the person in front of the camera feel comfortable enough to have a conversation and be as authentic rather than feel like they’re trying to remember some sort of scripted piece of a performance.
That’s especially important when working with scientists, employees, executives, or anyone else who doesn’t spend their day speaking on camera.
Fortunately, the SafeTiva team brought plenty of personality to the production.
Between takes, both teams swapped stories, joked around, and probably laughed more than anyone expected going into a laboratory video shoot.
These types of interactions aren’t separate from the production process. They’re part of it.
When people become comfortable with us and stop thinking as much about the camera in front of them, their interview answers tend to feel more natural and that authenticity comes through in the finished video.
And that’s part of the human connection both from the production side with our team and theirs, but showcasing that to their target demographic really draws people in.
Lab & Science Video Production in Massachusetts
For laboratories and science-based companies, video can help make technical work more accessible without taking away from the expertise behind it.
Sometimes that means interviewing scientists and subject-matter experts. Sometimes it means capturing the equipment, processes, and people at work. Often, as with SafeTiva, the strongest approach is a combination of both.
Chaze Films works with organizations throughout Massachusetts, New England and countrywide to develop video strategies and produce content built around their audiences, goals, and stories.
